ABOUT THE ALO MIX

A soil-free potting mix tailor-made for Alocasia, by Alocasia lover, Nicky Louise (@ssneakyplants)

This special mix promotes rapid root growth, establishing a stronger and faster growing plant. 

This product has been through several tests since year 2023, with the goal of making sure everything is perfect for Alocasia!

Nicky spent months trying to find the perfect balance among the contents whereas they should be able to retain an ample amount of water to keep the media moist which Alocasia loves, but at the same time, should have enough aeration so roots can breathe well. The ALO MIX also promotes corm growth as this combination of contents can provide a little pressure which encourages corms to grow, but gentle enough not to make the roots and corms feel cramped which delays growth.

Contents: Coco Fiber, New Zealand Tree Fern Fiber, Perlite, Pumice, Worm Castings, Horticultural Charcoal

HOW TO USE

Regular Set-up | Pots with Drainage Holes

Treat the media just the same as how you treat soil. During first repot, water the top of the media thoroughly. You may soak the entire plant as long as you make sure you drain the remaining water and should not leave any at the bottom of the pot.

Repeat process in a week or when media is 50% dry.

Passive Hydro Set-up | Self-watering Pots with Wicking System

Upon first repot, water the top of the media thoroughly to wet the entire mix. Let all the water drip at the reservoir and remove it. Treat it as a soil in pot with drainage holes at first. In a week or when media is 50% dry, refill the reservoir with water and do not water the top of media anymore.
